Day 2 - We set sail from Betina Marina

Awoke to bright sunny morning and no rain! Briefing in the restaurant with all crew where we were introduced to the lead crew of Karenza, N and Dalibor. After boat safety briefings we departed for our destination of the day - Biograd. This is a medium sized town about xx miles north of our start point and located on the Croatian mainland.
All was fairly calm as we set off but gradually the wind rose and by the time we were close to what we thought was our destination we able to a max of 6.7 knots (which turned out to be the fastest of the week)! Derek and I were surprised at how relaxed the girls were in these conditions - as they chatted away about quilting matters below deck. As things got a little too lively I had to make a quick turn into wind which got their attention as crockery rattled and draws flew open! At this stage we decided enough was enough and headed into what we thought was Biograd on the motor. It was only as we entered the harbour which seemed smaller than expected and spotted a man gesticulating frantically that the water was shallow that we realised we were not where we thought we were! After retreating (with a depth showing on the depth meter of 1.7m against a quoted draught for the boat of 1.8m) and studying the charts again we realised we had tried to moor in the small fishing port of Pakostan!
After such a near miss we motored quietly and suitably chastened up to the real Biograd.
There were no further events as we moored up for the first time between 2 other boats, stern to.

Day 1 - An Early Start

As we had to catch a 7.00 am flight from Bristol airport a 3.30 alarm call was required. After picking Julie and Derek up we arrived at the airport and had parked by 4.45.
